SNL Tax Masters

Catch the Tax Masters Spoof on Saturday Night Live Over the Weekend?

Imagine our surprise when we saw Jason Sudeikis near the end of Saturday Night Live standing in front of the gold background and Tax Masters logo. The folks at SNL even got the music right!

For those who missed the Saturday Night Live spoof on the TaxMasters commercial and company President Patrick Cox on NBC, here it is:

The cast of SNL put together a very interesting take on why Patrick Cox stands just the way he does in the television ads and why that camera angle never seems to change. The way we see it, you might as well have an attached twin brother named Daniel as any other explanation.

I will say this. When we are on set shooting those commercials, the director is nowhere near as good looking as Jane Lynch. Maybe we could talk her into guest directing our next shoot!

Jason Sudeikis did a fantastic job with a subject who can be difficult to imitate. And no matter how much the cast and crew didn’t want to hang with you, Jason, if you happen to show up at the offices down in Houston we’ll be glad to buy you a beer.

In case you can’t view the spoof above, follow this link to the Tax Masters Saturday Night Live skit.

Nice going! I actually have a bit more respect for you guys now that I can see that you can not only take a joke but post it, here, as well. Your head man, ha-ha, should really “lighten up”—LOL! His many beard and hair dyes are so goofy. Why doesn’t he move around, anyway? I guess with the SNL skit you are now camp, so I suppose you will actually get more business. No such thing as bad publicity, right? Way to go!

I hate your face showing up on my tv. It’s sooo old! This guy reads the prompt like he wants us to know that he can’t just speak. Take this advice: STOP READING dumbXXX. Who wants a lawyer that has to read his lines. I’m sure the judge would be impressed.

    Idiot.

    Hey Kyle.

Glad our ad made an impression on you. If you ever find yourself in need of tax help, just let us know. Patrick Cox is not a lawyer, by the way. Most CPAs I know feel more comfortable with a teleprompter when in front of a camera. The last thing we need is a Ricky Bobby moment where he doesn’t know what to do with his hands. ;-)

    Have a great day!

The “weird” angle is probably because Patrick has really wide shoulders. My brother is a big guy as well and photographers often have him turn his shoulders at an angle to help him photograph better.

Just a guess… The conjoined twin head is a pretty cool theory too though.

I always thought it was funny how the first few lines sound like they are meant to strike terror:

“Is the IRS calling you, or threatening you? Are IRS ninjas breaking into your house at night and terrorizing your dog, or slitting your throat while you sleep?” He even strikes this stiff, petrified pose.

Then he follows it up with a cheerful, sunny, “Hello!…”

    Ha ha ha!!

Oh and I loved the Christmas edition. Equally terrifying, but with little snowflakes and jingle bell sounds.

    Absolutely hilarious.

Have you ever heard the saying “LESS IS MORE”. Try it sometime.
I’m tired of looking at your big walrus face every commerical break on CNN.
You commercial is burnt into my retinas. Now when it comes on I turn the channel. And learn your frinkin lines already and stop reading for the teleprompter. You sit there so stiff with no body language you look like a robot that has to take a dump or something.
Go Away Tax Masters and Patrick Cox

    Blinded,

Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately the IRS does not do a good job of letting people know they have options and of looking out for the rights of taxpayers facing tax problems. Our commercials let people know they can hire someone to represent them before the IRS if they need help. As long as taxpayers need us, we plan to be around. And if you ever have a tax problem, I’m guessing you’ll remember us.

    Best!

    Jane Lynch is good looking?
